Activities
ADL Technical Team
In conjunction with leading the collaborative development of the
SCORM, the
ADL Technology Center develops the SCORM Conformance
Test Suite to provide organizations with the ability to perform self-testing on
learning management systems (LMSs), Sharable Content Objects
(SCOs) and Content Packages to
determine the extent of their conformance to the specifications and standards.
Further, the ADL Technical Team at the ADL Technology Center continually develops
and maintains prototypes and example implementations of SCORM concepts to aid early
adopters and support the integration of SCORM into commercial products. Most notably
the Sample Run-Time Environment (RTE) provides a working example
of the SCORM’s RTE, Content Packaging, and Sequencing and Navigation concepts.
Like the
ADL Co-Labs, the ADL Technology Center maintains a testbed environment
to support its technical development activities and enable enhanced collaboration
with the ADL Co-Lab Network. The ADL Technology Center testbed provides a comprehensive
testing environment supporting the verification of software products such as the
SCORM Conformance Test Suite and the Sample RTE.
Augmenting the technical staff at the ADL Co-Lab Hub, the ADL Technology Center
often supports technical exchanges, workshops, working group meetings and other
activities. Through the ADL Co-Lab Network, the ADL Technology Center testbed is
linked with that of the ADL Co-Lab Hub and Joint ADL Co-Lab. The ADL Technical Team
has on-demand access to the latest
LMS systems, authoring tools, repositories and other systems
maintained within the ADL testbed network.
The ADL Application Team is responsible for research and analysis of the SCORM specifications,
design and development of SCORM conformant content examples, and documentation and
dissemination of the lessons learned and best practices for implementing the SCORM.
