Understanding the Effects of Emotional Control on Learning

There are a plethora of training interventions designed to influence self-regulation. Many of the interventions target different components of self-regulation, which may be more or less beneficial at different stages of knowledge acquisition. The Training Evaluation Team is interested in examining the optimal timing of these interventions. For example, emotional control is theorized to be beneficial early in training when the task seems the most daunting and learners are likely to make the most mistakes (Kanfer & Ackerman, 1996). As such, future research will examine at what points during training different self-regulation interventions should be implemented.
